Environmental Engineer/ Manager, Guangzhou, China

How does it sound to you to become a key contributor to the PanzerGlass' sustainability efforts globally?

The successful candidate will work closely with all PanzerGlass departments globally to ensure social and environmental compliance, to uphold policies and standards and to track performance.  

Your responsibilities:

Environmental Engineer/ Manager will be based in Guangzhou, China, where the main goal is to develop, advance, elevate, align and execute PanzerGlass’ supply chain sustainability vision and strategy globally. The sustainability manager will develop relationships with suppliers globally and drive their compliance with PanzerGlass’ Code of Conduct. 

Furthermore, your responsibilities include:

  • Build on and coordinate PanzerGlass’ Global Sustainability Program 
  • Deliver against Global Sustainability targets relating to energy, water and waste
  • Manage Environmental legal compliance across regions as required
  • Monitor the execution of the program for global suppliers; enhance the programs when necessary for PanzerGlass and its brands  
  • Work with local offices and provide direction, guidance and support in compliance with the company’s environmental policies and targets
  • Ensure compliance with specific energy and climate change legislation and voluntary subscriptions globally
  • Identify new reporting and compliance requirements
  • Develop, provide and deliver appropriate environmental training to local teams as required
  • Conduct internal and external sustainability reporting
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual performance reports for various internal and external audiences
  • Evaluate the performance of third-party monitoring firms 
  • Be innovative in the promotion of sustainable best practice across the region

Occasional travel to attend meetings and training, provide training and conduct audits throughout the regions is to be expected


Your qualifications:

  • Degree in CSR, Environmental Sustainability, Energy Management and/or experience in a similar commercial environment
  • Working knowledge of regional and country regulations and legislation
  • Ability to research and understand country specific regulatory and legislative language to maintain compliance 
  • Excellent verbal and written skills with ability to interact with employees at all levels, including suppliers
  • Ability to demonstrate sound analytical skills
  • Strong knowledge of international standards, frameworks and regulations related to human rights, labour rights and industrial relations, environmental impact and health & safety in China or Asia
  • Comfortable in developing and delivering presentations to employees at all levels.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs
  • Strong English and Chinese (Mandarin) verbal and written communication skills
